Colleges with Programs for Students with Learning Disabilities - Almost all colleges and universities provide some level of services and/or accommodations for learning disabled students, as mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The colleges and universities listed here go a step further...they offer programs designed to support students with learning disabilities.
The George Washington University HEATH Resource Center – This is the National Clearinghouse on Postsecondary Education for individuals with disabilities. From living on a college campus, to financial aid, to selecting a college that can accommodate your disability, this site provides a wealth of information to help you in making those all important decisions.
College Board – From this site, you can sign up for the SAT exam, search for a specific college, search for colleges that match your interests and needs, research financial aid options, and even take a practice SAT exam.
American Education Services – This is a great site for searching for a school based on the type of school and major you are interested in, as well as searching for scholarships and calculating how much financial aid you need. From this site, you can apply on-line to the college of your choice, and can also apply for student loans (consult with your parents before selecting this option, though)!
Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) – This site provides information on all of the colleges and universities in Maryland, as well as on career training schools (an alternative to college, career training schools provide focused training in specific areas in a much shorter period of time). You can also get information on finding a major, searching for scholarships and other forms of financial aid, as well as financial aid specific to Maryland residents planning on attending Maryland schools. Be sure to check out information on the Academic Common Market which gives students the opportunity to enroll at certain out-of-state programs that are not offered at an in-state public college or university at reduced tuition rates.
