DORS Lanham Office staff
On June 11, 2005, the Lanham DORS Office hosted an open house for the High School/High Tech participants from United Cerebral Palsy of Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties, Inc. from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Twenty families turned out for the event and were anxiously waiting for us to open our doors.
Staff members were on hand to conduct orientations, intakes and to complete DORS and High School/High Tech applications for High School/High Tech participants. Many parents were very happy to have weekend hours extended to them, so that they could attend the meetings and not miss work.
Thomas Mays, Manager of the Disability Support Services from the Prince George’s Community College, was also available to answer questions and share resource materials with students and their families. Michael Hughes, Coordinator of Disability Support Services from Bowie State University, provided resource materials to distribute to students and their families.
The hard work and collaboration between DORS and UCP, as well as the interest of the students in DORS and UCP services made the day a true success. DORS would like to thank Shayna Street, Cherill Ashton, Diane Brown, Adrienne Thomas, Tonya Stellar, Lowry Martin, UCP, DORS Staff Specialist Adele Connolly, DORS Regional Director Sharon Julius and UCP Executive Director Charles McNelly for delivering outstanding customer service and making themselves available to the public.
