University of Maryland Young Scholars Program
For several years, the Young Scholars Program (YSP) has offered high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to participate in an academic, pre-college experience for three weeks in the summer. This year, with the support of the Maryland High School/High Tech Program, the University has launched an organized outreach to students with disabilities. The newly designed program component will provide ongoing disability support services and opportunities for internships.
Students will complete one technology-related academic course (three college credits), participate in career development, leadership and advocacy seminars, and participate in three-week paid internships in such settings as Goddard Space Flight Center and throughout the University of Maryland campus. Mentors and project staff will help students make connections to post-secondary educational opportunities.
